If you’re passionate about pancakes and consider yourself something of a crepe connoisseur, then you might want to check out North Star Coffee Shop, Bundobust and Hyde Park Book Club this coming Shrove Tuesday.  They’ve each produced some seriously good pancake creations to challenge your taste-buds, whether you like it sweet, savoury or both. So loosen your belt, get comfy and prepare to indulge in some sugary treats that are well worth the calories.

North Star Coffee Shop

North Star over in Leeds Dock is hands down the best coffee shop in central Leeds, with their own on-site micro-roastery which grinds up beans for some of the city’s best-loved cafes, bars and restaurants. They’ll be serving a mouth-watering menu of sweet and savoury pancakes from 8am – 5pm on Tuesday 13th February. Check out the menu:

Feeling creative? Hyde Park Book Club are holding a build-your-own pancake day feast from 10am – 4pm with vegan-friendly pancakes available. There will be a massive range of toppings, including savoury Vegetarian Butcher bacon and Vegetarian Butcher sausage. They also happen to stock a rather enviable selection of craft lagers that’s well worth investigating.

If you have a sweet tooth, then you can gorge and feast on chocolate chips, Oreo shards, ice cream, glitter, blueberries, cherry compote, macadamia creme, maple syrup, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, banana, pecans and caramel sauce. Phew.

Indian street food doesn’t get any better than Bundobust and they’re offering an alternative ‘Dosa Day’ this Shrove Tuesday. Drop in and try their new Vegan Dosa, which is inspired by their new Masala Dosa recipe.

Featuring vegan yoghurt coconut chutney and a potato and cauliflower Aloo Gobi, as you’d expect from Bundobust, it’s a guilt-free treat that doesn’t skimp on flavour. A ‘Sweet Sweet Dosa’ will also be on the menu for one day only, packed with mango, pistachio, cardamom and mascarpone cream.

With some seriously good crepes on offer all over Leeds, don’t let your Shrove Tuesday plans fall flat in 2018.
