Neon Cactus & The Chilli Shop have announced the second in their series of collaboration hot-sauce supper clubs, the next in their series will take place at Neon Cactus on October 31st and focus on Yorkshire produce matched with weird & wonderful local hot sauces.
A quarterly series of events launched this July, the much-loved bar & Mexican restaurant & The Chilli Shop hosted a sold-out supper club serving five tacos carefully created to match with a seriously hot hot sauce. An homage to YouTube sensation First We Feast’s ‘Hot Ones’ each round got hotter and hotter until the fifth and final taco seriously tested those in attendance.
Hosted by Hot Sauce expert and The Chilli Shop owner Frank Jay, each course comes with a full introduction and explanation of the dish, the sauce and the science behind getting the most flavor from them. While those attending this next supper club can be sure to get some serious heat, this is also an event for those interested in good, Yorkshire produce and the art of balancing strong flavours and elements in food – passionate chef’s and chilli heads working together to create a unique food experience.
Akito Executive Chef Harley Ali:
“After the success of the first supper club we sat down and thought about where we should take this series. We decided that with us both being independent Leeds businesses and proud of our Yorkshire roots we should focus using unique and local hot sauces for the next one. We can’t wait to see what sauces Frank & The Chilli Shop have for us to build our dishes around. It’s Halloween, let’s get weird with it…”
Frank Jay, director of The Chili Shop:
“Building on the success of the previous supper club, the theme this time will be the best and most bizarre of Yorkshire’s local Chilli produce. The reason that Chilli-Shop moved to Leeds was because this region was the hotbed of creative chilli-head producers. We are challenging the top chef at Neon Cactus to incorporate five or six wildly original chilli products and turn them in to a five-course supper, each one ascending in heat until world record level. I will be giving a talk between each course and inviting along a couple of the top producers to explain how they created their super spicy masterpieces and unveiling a brand-new product. Will the chef rise to the challenge of Yorkshire v Food?”
Neon Cactus is a one of Leeds most popular bars, open for both cosy evenings & delicious Mexican food and wild parties 7 days a week. The Chilli Shop, as featured on ITV This Morning, is a specialist shop based in Leeds’ Merrion Centre, dedicated to all things spicy.
