Black Mouse Cheese and Wine Emporium in Pudsey celebrates becoming a member of The Guild of Fine Foods and introduces more new cheeses to their selection, plus their very own cacao chocolate range in unbelievable flavours that will have you running back for more!

Having built an enviable reputation for selling award winning British cheeses and wines, Black Mouse Cheese and Wine Emporium found itself under the glare of The Guild of Fine Foods, which has been at the heart of the fine food world since 1995. The Guild supports and promotes specialty food producers and the independent delis, farm shops and food halls that sustain them. Backed by 1,300 members, it runs the influential Great Taste and World Cheese Awards.

Being accepted in to the Guild sets Black Mouse and its very proud proprietor Allan Wheeler, head and shoulders above the rest and apart from stocking the very best British cheeses and wines, Allan also offers fine wines from around the world. All of which can be sampled on his VIP Cheese and Wine Tasting Evenings but be warned, once the dates are released they fill almost immediately! Dates for events in March will be published on Black Mouse social media so keep your eyes peeled.

To further compliment these wonderful cheeses, Allan has just taken delivery of some of the best cacao chocolate we have ever tasted and each made to his own specific recipes and chocolate blends. You can choose from 70% Ecuadorian with sea salt, Ghanaian a 40% milk chocolate, Cuban a 70% chocolate with flavours of red berries, roasted wood and tobacco and Kumabo, an 80% blend.

All pair perfectly with red or white wine and partner beautifully with blue, strong and soft cheeses, all except for the milk chocolate which is better with Sloemotion handmade Sloe Gin, which of course is in stock at Black Mouse. These chocolate blends can also be used in cooking, although once tasted it’s debatable how much will make it in to your recipe.

Allan has chosen a handful of superb new cheeses to showcase too which sit perfectly alongside Mrs Kirkhams, Lincolnshire Poacher Cheeses, Richard 111 Wensleydale, Colton Bassett, Yellison and many more award winners. Other new additions are Sloemotion Sloe Gins and Fentimans tonics in exciting flavours such as pink grapefruit and Fentimans and Nelsons Rhubarb Gin.

Allan’s customers are also loving the Black Cow Cheddar he is now selling, this is made from the milk of grass-grazed cows on a West Dorset farm. Intense, rich and crumbly, this is a very special cheese. Black Cow is also the producer of the world’s first pure milk vodka. Previously exclusive to Fortnum & Mason, the milk is separated into curds and whey. The curds are used to make cheese, the whey is fermented into a beer using a special yeast that converts the milk sugar into alcohol. This milk beer is then distilled and treated to our secret blending process. The vodka is then triple filtered and finished, before being hand bottled and is described as wonderfully smooth and beautifully rounded!

A visit to Black Mouse Cheese and Wine Emporium is a unique experience, don’t be in a hurry as there is a huge array of cheeses for you to discover, from hard to squishy, stinky to mild and sharp to creamy. You will be sure to find something to suit your palate.
