Hot on the heels of the recent Harrogate opening, The Ivy St Helen’s Square has arrived in style, bringing a jolly good dash of vintage glamour and decadence to the city of York. The new restaurant marks the latest part of the iconic British brands master plan to conquer the north, with another establishment pencilled in for Leeds in May.
Guests attending the launch were treated to an evening of free-flowing Champagne, cocktails and tasty canapes which teased the brasseries mouth-watering new menu.
Much of the food on offer is locally-sourced and includes British classics such as slow-roasted lamb shoulder, as well as more diverse options such as the aromatic duck curry and wasabi prawns with salt and pepper squid.
Given York’s status as one of the UK’s leading tourist hotspots, The Ivy only adds extra kudos to the historic city with the charming cobbled streets and medieval landmarks. The eatery features 120 covers and has created over 120 jobs, which includes general manager Jon Pinner and an impressive 55 chefs led by celebrated head chef Steve Scoullar, a former York College student.
As you’d expect from The Ivy, the interior design is lavish and peppered with stunning images of York from days gone by as well as luxury leather seating and a marble top bar.
The restaurant is open for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening dining seven days a week until late. Definitely one to go on the 2018 bucket list. Look out for a review in the coming months as team H&N will be returning for the full Ivy experience.
