dakota leeds christmas 2019

With the most wonderful time of the year almost upon us once again, we’ve been eyeing up the best spots in Leeds to enjoy a good old festive knee’s up. It doesn’t seem like two minutes since we were at Dakota’s Christmas menu showcase last year, however, it was such a blast that we were eager to see what they’ve cooked up for 2019.

Perched on the ever-popular Greek Street, Dakota couldn’t be any more perfect for the season of good will its modern take on vintage Hollywood inspired décor. As we were greeted in the Champagne bar with a boozy festive cocktail, it didn’t take long for us to get into the festive spirit, despite that fact it was still October.

Downstairs in the restaurant, our table was adorned with Christmas crackers and all the trimmings. In typical Dakota fashion, it’s all done very tastefully and doesn’t steer far away from their signature black, gold and silver colour palette.

With the red wine flowing, we were soon enjoying our starter of Chicken Liver and Truffle Parfait. Served with a spiced plum chutney and toasted brioche, the portion was a little on the small size but most definitely a case of quality over quantity. It was delicious and a step up from last year’s version.

For mains, we went traditional with the Roast Turkey Breast and what a choice this turned out to be. I was personally pleased that the standard pigs in blankets were absent, instead replaced with a side of delicious confit duck leg. The turkey was incredibly succulent and perfectly complemented Goose fat potatoes, seasonal vegetables and lashings of gravy.

An exceptional roast dinner and one of the best I’ve eaten in a long time. Resisting the Caramel Panna Cotta with homemade gingerbread, I ended with the Dark Chocolate and Orange Delice. Rich, satisfying and unashamedly calorific, this is the kind of pudding that is worth putting in some extra effort down at the gym.

And, whilst the preview menu we enjoyed was just a taster of what Dakota are delivering for the 2019 festive season, it was all executed perfectly. It’s worth mentioning that the Christmas Day menu looks ridiculously good this year, with such delights as the Surf and Turf Fillet of Beef and Butternut Squash and Blue Cheese Wellington on offer.

If you’ve not yet organised your Christmas party or festive meal, then you really need to get these guys on your shortlist.
