Both The Angel and Burlington offer foodies a new reason to visit, with The Angel having gained its Michelin star last month, a year after Chef Patron Michael Wignall joined the team, and The Burlington having its new Head Chef at the helm, Peter Howarth who has enjoyed a stellar career to date, with a list of well-respected hotel restaurants under his belt including Gidleigh Park and The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, both of which held two Michelin stars and 5 AA rosettes.
The two Chefs became friends back in 2006 when Michael was Head Chef at The Burlington and Peter was Sous Chef, so Peter has now come full circle to be in the top role at The Burlington, a year after Michael’s return to the Dales.
A gourmet tasting menu with pre-dinner Champagne aperitif is included at both restaurants, with a complimentary chauffeur ride to and from The Angel, with The Devonshire Arms’ ‘Home James’ service, plus two nights’ accommodation at The Devonshire Arms, including full Yorkshire breakfast, and complimentary spa access.
The Burlington specialises in seasonal and ever-changing tasting menus. From home-grown fruit and vegetables from the Hotel’s own kitchen garden, to produce reared and caught on the Duke’s Estate, each ingredient is carefully considered from seed to fork within the seasonal menus. Dishes are cooked and presented skilfully by Peter and his team, who pride themselves in delivering an exceptional dining experience.
The Angel Inn at Hetton is widely regarded as the UK’s original gastropub. The ancient inn has origins which date back to the 15th century, forming the basis of hundreds of years of delicious dining and drinking. Michael Wignall delivers food that wows on every plate, creating dishes that are full of flavour and underpinned by a contemporary, less formal approach to fine dining. Famous for its food, as well as its warm, welcoming atmosphere – it has maintained a strong following among locals, and with customers from all over the world.
The luxury two night gourmet stay, ‘Yorkshire’s Finest Dining Experience’ is priced from £295 pp*, and celebrates the Chefs’ professional friendship, their culinary prowess, and their obsession to delight diners with magnificent, locally sourced, seasonal menus and offer them the opportunity to enjoy the warm and friendly hospitality of the Dales.

Bookings for the Burlington Restaurant may be made from Tuesday-Sunday evening. Bookings for The Angel may be made on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evening. Our chefs will cater for any food intolerances or allergies, please ensure these are mentioned at the time of booking.
This package includes Spa access from 2pm on the day on check in until 12pm on the day of check out. Spa treatments are available with a 20% discount and should be booked prior to arrival to avoid disappointment. A 5% service levy is added to all hotel accounts for distribution directly to staff.
