Local business owners in Idle Village, Bradford, have got their heads together to try and light up the village this Christmas.
With no council funding for a Christmas tree, the residents have taken matters into their own hands and are asking for donations to help secure a large Christmas tree with lights.
A grand switch on is provisionally planned for Sunday 9th December which will be a great event for locals to enjoy and offer a much needed injection of community spirit after a recent wave of burglary and car crime in the area.
Idle Village is a thriving West Yorkshire Village, with lots of independent businesses well placed to contribute to the event and is home to lots of families who would relish the chance to join in Christmas festivities on their doorstep.
Given the popularity of bonfire night in the area, a Christmas event would surely be well attended. Generous residents have already donated on this just giving page set up by the owners of Butter Fingers Tearoom and Bake n Butty sandwich shop.
As H&N Magazine is based relatively close to Idle, we are trying to secure the donation of a christmas tree which the local council has stipulated would need to be around 20ft tall given the groundworks needed as a safety precaution.
